Rob Hawk takes elements of the Sugar Hill Gangīs īThe Messageī and twists, filters and funks the living day lights out of the 80s seminal Hip Hop critique of modern life and turns it into an electro-house gem perfect for 21st century dance floors. Itīs a Jungle sums up moden Ireland and all its new found wealth and the dark edges of society by fusing the biting lyrics of New Yorks Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel adding acid sounds, big beats, a bumpin groove and inlisting some of the finest remixers to create a series of cuts from classic Detroit techno sounds to some deep house grooves and some serious acid action. inlisting local folk singer-songwriter Caleb to re-create the lyrics with a haunntinh quality perfect for the hypnotic and mind-bending sounds of cooler dance floors. Irelandīs very own Corrugated Tunnell (Seedy-R), Duty Cycle (Viva Music), Produse (Nice & Nasty) are joined by the UKīs Nasty Bobby (Nice & Nasty) and Americaīs Q-Burns Abstract Message (8Tracks, 4th Dimension). This is a cool collection of cool dance floor tracks using great lyrics from a classic song wrapped up in some surprsing little mixes from some extraordinary remixers.
